Which one is better- University of Michigan or University of Maryland? Apparently, all of the lawyers in my office went to one of those two, and there appears to be quite a rivalry.
This area will hire out of local and regional schools based on the alumni connection before they hire out of "better" schools so better-schmetter. I think that's true for most regions of the country. But if you're looking strictly at rankings, MI his a higher rated law school than MD.
I'm kind of disappointed to hear this. The one guy that went to Michigan is a total assface. I was hoping it was a loser law school.
well, he's still talking openly and regularly about where his law school ranked several years after beginning practice. even if he'd gone to maryland, he'd be an assface. HA.

Also, he works for the government, and I'll catch up to him salary-wise shortly, with my bachelor's degree, so I can take solace in that. Lol.
Yeah, Michigan is a better school and has a better national reputation, but like calledout said, if you live in MD, the local school could garner a lot of respect. That is the case here re FSU law school. Like, nobody gives a shit that I went to a "better" school.
My H gets this too, people really don't understand that not everyone went to FSU.
Off topic, but holy shit, the tuition prices give me heart palpitations. My law school is $14,000 more per year than when I went in the early 2000's. That's insane.
I also totally give Tulane the side eye on their exorbitant tuition ($45k/yr). It's crazy to me that people pay that for a school with their ranking. It's a good school, but $45k?? I was offered a full tuition academic scholarship to Tulane but turned it down because I was scared I wouldn't maintain the necessary gpa and would end up having to pay their crazy tuition (which I think was around $35k back then).

Mine is now more than double what it was when I was there. And the instate tuition is now higher than I paid for out of state.
