I know this isn't the same, but we watch a lot of movies from direct tv. you have to pay a few dollars per movie, but they really are new releases, and we don't have to get a baby sitter to go see a new movie...
All of these services need to get their shit together and band together to make one really awesome service where all of the instant stuff is available along with new releases. I would even pay more than the $8 or $9 that it is for netflix.

I don't have any help in regards to movies, but I just wanted to mention that if you're looking for tv shows, a friend just told me about a site called Project Free TV that streams a huge selection of tv shows. I'm loving it so far; I've been able to watch seasons 2 & 3 of Downton Abbey without having to subscribe to Amazon Prime.

Yeah, Netflix offers way more new releases through the mail service. The streaming has more content just not as new. I think because you are capped at three new movies or less a week, with snail mail. You can always just do Redbox.
