It doesn't taste that bad if you like bananas. Also, the bananas have to be super ripe for it to taste even better (I made that mistake twice before my H and I got it right). You have to add a lot of stuff to it make it taste closer to ice cream.
I made some once by throwing blueberries, heavy cream and a few tbsp of sugar in the food processor and it was really good. Not a great alternative if you're looking for "healthy" recipes though. Lol. I only made it because I was craving ice cream and I was too lazy to go to the store
I really like the frozen blended bananas (I just added almond milk to make them blend a little more easily), but I wasn't expecting them to taste like ice cream, more like bananas, blended. Sorry you didn't like it

A relative invited me over for green ice cream on St. Patrick's day. It was frozen mashed bananas with spinach and peppermint extract in it. I do not recommend this combination.

That sounds more like an awful April Fools Day prank.
I love it but I also love bananas. They need to be really, really frozen. Sometimes, I also add a little crushed ice, a spoonful of cocoa powder, a dash of milk and a little bit of sugar, then blend for about a minute in my Magic Bullet. I think it tastes a lot like a Frosty.

yuck
So much easier and tastier to buy Edy's mint chip ice cream.

Right? She kept talking about how refreshing it was and how she couldn't wait to make it again. The denial was strong in her.

lol, my crunchy friend told me about this. She was like "it is TOTALLY JUST LIKE ICE CREAM! BUT BETTER! And my kid loves it and we make "ice cream" all the time." ok, cool. So I try it on my kids. They are all into helping, give it a try, and are pumped about this awesome new ice cream we're making. Then N says: "um, mom? This isn't ice cream. This is just a mashed up banana. I'm done now."
Kids are serious about their ice cream, and speak the truth here, 100%. It was no good.
Any kind of banana makes me want to vomit everywhere. Even the smell.
lol, okay. This may be part of the problem.
eta: sorry, for some reason I thought you were the OP.
I still try things with banana in them though - I can't be super picky at work and most people like banana stuff so I make banana bread often. I try to make everyone else taste stuff for me though - most people don't mind free samples!

I had a co worker that would literally gag at the site & smell of it. I think it just reminds me of banana medicine lol
I lived/worked for my grandparents one summer. Each morning my grandma would have a banana (a brown stinky one!) and a piece of bread. The smell of banana and yeasty bread combined made me so nauseous and would give me headaches.
