I feel like I mentioned this before, but I'm not sure. A couple days after I got home from the hospital, MH went out on his own & bought a butt ugly couch from the clearance section of our local furniture store. To put it lightly, I HATE it. It's a fake brown leather, that has that worn, scratched up look.
Like the one on the right in the picture. The color & texture are different though. It reminds me of the interior of an old Buick.
Now, keep in mind we didn't need a new couch. I told him prior, NOT to buy anything. Our old couch only needed to be cleaned. But, he went ahead anyway & bought this monster that can't be returned.
So it sat in the warehouse of his work until last night. I went to look at it, sat on it & still hated it. I told him to get rid of it. Sell it to a coworker, Craigslist, whatever.
Last night, I had to teach. I came home & the ugly couch is sitting in my living room. When you open the front door, the first thing you see is that big, ugly turd. I was livid. He took the time to rearrange the room. Both the old & new couch are now cramped in the room. He moved one of the recliners out.
The only solution I could come up with is to put ugly couch in the basement. We have a family room down there & the poop couch would fit in much better. According to MH, the ugly couch needs lots of room in order to recline. The space in the basement wouldn't allow for this.
Now he says he doesn't want to fight about it & will throw the couch out. Sounds stupid to me.
I don't have any advice, sorry, but I can empathize. My H picked out the paint for the inside of my house and started painting while I was at work and I HATE the color. But it took 3 days with no furniture to paint. I don't have the energy to repaint so I just feel angry and annoyed every time I look at the color. I guess I would say to put it in the basement. So it doesn't recline. It's better than throwing it away. Maybe someday he will have a giant man cave he can put it in and recline all day.
Please tell me he didn't pay that much for the couch. Ha.
Yikes, I wouldn't want that couch in my house either. Especially if it's the first thing that is seen coming from the front door.
I think the basement sounds like a good idea And I would keep pushing the CL idea.
Also, would the store take it back and give you some sort of credit towards a new couch? Maybe they will be willing if they know they were still getting your money.
Yeah @ what Kathy said. At RTG Clearance store, you couldn;t get cash for a return, but you could get store credit. MAybe the place he went to will do that.
I don't know how much he paid for the couch. I didn't ask, I was too angry. I have no idea why he bought the couch. Men are stupid. I pushed the couch out of the way & put the room back the way it was. I measured the couch & it will fit in the basement. Now he claims that its too heavy to move down there. Apparently, it was a huge PITA just to get it in the front door. He claims he'll have to take it around the house & through the back door to get it in the basement. Am I being a super bitch by saying too bad? I think that's the best compromise & feel like he's being stubborn & difficult now.
Uh, no, you are not being a super bitch. He bought the couch for no gaddamn reason and now what's the whole world to see it. Tell him to let the whole world see it. ON THE LAWN.
