I'm now a Junior Member and I didn't even realize it lol. I'm no longer a newbie!
I've been in an angry mood for the last couple of hours. I don't know where it stemmed from, but I'm getting irrationally annoyed by everything. It's midnight and my neighbors across the way are shouting their conversation with their front door open. I'm thiiiis close to yelling at them to be more quiet or shut the damn door.
I'm bummed because the call center really did forget about me, despite my numerous prodding emails to set up an interview like they said they would.
I guess I'm chalking it up to the heat. It's really hot where I am.
Honestly? I'd call them and say something along the lines of "hi, my name is so and so, I'm calling to check in with *name of person, if there is one* about setting up an interview". You mention sending e-mails a lot, I would try switching over to phone calls when you can.

It's hard talking on the phone, as I have some hearing loss. I hate saying "what?" or "I'm sorry, can you repeat that?" over and over. I get leeway a few times, but then I hear the exasperation in their voice when they have to repeat something for a 3rd time. I usually put down, "email contact preferred".

That's a legit reason. Can you stop down at the place?
You can also tell them about the hearing loss, so they know why you prefer e-mail over phone. That might help in a big way of why they contact or don't. Most companies have to make a reasonable accommodations for someone.

I can't stop at the place as it is not opened yet. No one is there until the July 1st opening. I got an email saying that they got inundated with resumes that week, so my interview would be delayed slightly. Since then, I haven't heard a peep. It sucks because I was the first one to apply to the job too.
I'll make sure to mention my hearing loss for contact preference. I just don't want them shucking me to the side (illegally, but unable to prove it) because I have some hearing loss.
There will most likely be companies who see hearing loss and toss your application. But you know what? They can suck it. Do you really want to work for a company that is going to take issue with some hearing loss? Yes, it can be a challenge but it doesn't make a person a sucky employee.
But I do have to ask, why a call center if you are uneasy with phones? Is there anything, doctor wise, you can do to help your hearing be a bit better?
Love late night randoms! I went to a work dinner for a coworker that is moving across the country. I'm really going to miss her! She was a great nurse practitioner to work with, so smart. I'm bummed. On the bright side, I'm excited to go back to work tomorrow after my 6 week absence. I was told I look great, and so much happy and healthier last night. I love my coworkers.

I would give the company some time yet.
I was going for the office job where I'd be filing claims and such. Keep me away from the phones! lol

Oooh okay. How often are you e-mailing them? I'd cut it down to about 1 time a week. And if you can go there once it opens, I'd just stop in.

I emailed them once last week and I shot an email to them a couple of days ago. If I don't hear anything, I will head down to that office and physically hand them my resume.
Do you have a hearing aid/hearing aids? If not, you should look into Vocational Rehabilitation. They will often provide hearing aids for someone to help them get a job. Either free or fees based on what you can afford. You can PM me if you have any questions..not sure where you are.
