Oh. My. God.
PA Rep Brian Sims rose to speak on the PA House floor, during a time at which any Rep can speak about any topic of importance. Sims is openly gay, and planned to speak about the defeat of DOMA.
Rep Daryl Metcalfe blocked him, saying that Sims' comments would be an open rebellion against God's law.
Two more Reps stood up for Sims and were also blocked from speaking.
I'm not at all shocked that this guy comes from Pennsyltucky and frankly am relieved he's not from the eastern part of the state. Nevertheless, this generally isn't how PA politics roll so I'm surprised.

Are you? Really?* From the state that gave us a frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter?
*Please read this in your best Michael Bluth voice.

That was the part that made me shout "Fuck you!" at my radio last night. Poor, DS2. I really need to remember to curb my language and outbursts more.
ETA: And then I went on a rant about the separation of church and state so at least DS2 is getting some actual education along with a fabulous expletive laced vocabulary.
May I propose carving off the western portion of the state and creating an official Pennsatucky?
I need some notice before that happens so I can get the fuck out of Florida.
Seriously though, I am really frightened by how our country is moving forward. The divide has always been there but now I feel like we're sitting on a powder keg and it's only a matter of when it goes off; not if but when.
I sometimes wish I could respond to everything in the real world with gifs, because if I was in that house chamber, I'm pretty sure this would have happened:
1. He sounds like a gracious person: Sims, one of two openly gay members of the house, said that Republicans approached him afterward to apologize. Sims said that he will remember the moment, not for being silenced, but for the support offered from his colleagues in the Legislature.
