Animal Chiropractic? I never knew there was such a thing. I hear this all the time. The first thing I say is 'Why not?' It works for you... It works for your pet. (one of my tag lines). Immediately, their next question is, "How do you know your animal needs an adjustment?" There are many different ways. Here are a few things I tell people. Is your animal hesitant to jump? Is your small animal having trouble with steps? When your animal sits, does it sit to one side? This is abnormal after age 2. When your animal looks at you is its head cocked to one side even when you're not talking? Has your performance animal had an injury on the course? Has your animal recently had surgery? If you wonder if your animal needs an adjustment, cold laser (healing light therapy), whole food supplements, or other alternative therapies, evaluations are only $10 and can be used toward the 1st treatment!. Call to schedule an appointment.
I see what you mean. It's taken me 6 years to get a grip on exactly what TRUE cold laser is and what's being sold to practitioners. So, I'll pass it on to you. There are two types of cold laser (healing light) - LED (collimated and uncollimated) and Infrared. The goal of cold laser (healing light) is to reset abnormal cell function to function normally. Cold Laser is based on vibration of tissues (skin, organ, muscle, tendon, disk, ...) The overall vibration of the nervous system (communication within the body) is ~635 nm and then different tissues have different vibrations.
Vibration is a form of energy. Light is a form of energy. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only changed in form. By flashing photons (bits of light/energy) into the body, the communicators of each cell will listen for their familiar frequency via flashing light. Once the frequency is recognized as familiar and "good" it will begin to mimic the light. Once a cell picks up a correct frequency, it will communicate this information to the DNA and the surrounding cells. This cell and all the surrounding cells will begin to act normal.
Now, as you know, heat denatures protein (cook a steak). The lower the wattage, the better. Many infrared laser companies will tell you they are cold laser when in fact they are not even on the cold laser part of the light spectrum. They will install LED along with the infrared so you see the red light but the only way to see the infrared is by putting your cellphone in front of the beam. They claim the infrared is not heating. Don't be fooled. Yes at a point in time two beams cross to cancel out the high frequencies which they are emitting. However, all the other points along the beam are still emitting their programmed frequencies which are usually between 800-900 nm. This increases the frequency of the nervous system and tissues via heat, confusing the cell. Remember, the goal of cold laser is to have abnormal cells vibrate normally. I want you to take a 10 Watt bulb and put it up against your leg and feel the heat. Now think of what it is doing to tissue that's never seen the sun, never been intended to see the sun, and is now seeing the sun. That's what infrared does. It is on the same part of the light spectrum as the sun. Don't be fooled.
Now, what gets the practitioner to pay $20K+ for an infrared? Time and instant results! You are able to stop the pain (confuse/cook the nerve) in 3 minutes!

This has been "a thing" for years. One of the WTC S&R dogs I know had to receive routine chiro as a result of his work at Ground Zero. It was one of the few things that worked to keep him in reasonable comfort. ETA: And able to continue to work in other disasters. I can't remember if he or his sibling went to Katrina....
Now, if you would have come in here with "animal communicators" or "animal psychics" or woo like that, I'd be all over the side-eyeing.
But I'm not sure why dealing with skeletal or muscular issues with something other than Rimadyl is a bad thing.
I don't think animal chiro and cold laser healing lights is far off from communicators or psychics. I don't think human chiro is far off either, except that I've come to grips with the fact that there is some evidence that it can help lessen lower back pain. For humans at least.
Well I agree the cold heat lazer (??) is nutty. I knew two vet techs who concentrated on muscle issues a rehab tactics. They had a doggie underwater treadmill, those big balls, rice heating pads, cooling pads, etc. - they helped a lot of arthritic and otherwise ailing animals and we saw some awesome results. What these owners were charged was sort of ridic though. I'd be tempted to learn bits and pieces and reproduce it on my pet if I felt they needed it.

i would too. That sounds more like physical therapy than chiro. Aka more legit than locating subluxations by comparing leg lengths.
this is what I get for not paying attention to pets. WHAAAAA? How does that work? Do the animals get restrained?
No, they just stand there. They can't feel the needles, just like humans can't. A coworker has a vet that will come to the office, so she just brings her animals in and they do it in the coworkers office. I watched once. They were doing it for her cat who has spinal compression which makes her feel pain unless treated. The cat completely relaxed during the procedure.

Well, obviously you know I don't have first hand knowledge of this nonsense. There was an suv in Denver that I managed to see all the time advertising their home animal acupuncture business. I've also heard/read people use it as proof that it works because animals can't experience placebo. Except that they can.
Humans CAN! I tried it once and those needles hurt! Everyone said they didn't but they totally did. Not a lot, but I did wince. Glad the animals don't though.

Both of my dogs have acupuncture treatments. My big dog lays down and she talks to him during the procedure, he doesn't even notice. My little dog is a drama whore and does nothing but stand and shake the whole time.
The results really are amazing though. I took the first dog in as my "last resort", the next step was to seriously discuss the option of euth. He's a new man now and on zero daily pain killers, only receives drugs during an occasional flair up here and there.
