It just means that your uterus is shrinking back down to a normal size. They'll subside eventually.

Very normal Unfortunately after subsequent pregnancies they can be horrifically painful, so much so that it became one of the reasons I didn't nurse my 3rd child.

I had them later on. I was in so much pain I called my OB, lol. I am a wuss but those cramps were no joke.

I only get them in the first few days. This time they rivalled labour contractions at about 5 cm dilated. No joke.

I took arnica (homeopath you can buy at health food stores, they're small pills) for the 6 weeks after and found they helped me with random pains. Including cramping which was still off and on at 5 weeks. I still get twinges.

Yes, they get worse with each child. The LC in the hospital was telling me about a woman who had her fifth child and was asking for her epi back!
