There is a really bad stomach bug going around. DD had vomiting and diarrhea. Not fun with a baby! Be sure to use lots of diaper cream/vaseline on her bottom to prevent diaper rash if she doesn't already have it.
anyway, babies get sick a ton with little things that are NBD. if the doctor didn't text you back to say "go to the ER" and her behavior/diapers aren't changing for the worse, just keep an eye on her and give her extra hugs. i can understand the hypervigilance, especially with blood in the stool (for us, that was the first real sign that L had the dairy intolerance, and we were freaked. i get it. totally.).
You're probably right that its a stomach bug. I'd just encourage lots of nursing for fluids and keep her bum slathered in diaper cream or Vaseline. I hope it passes quickly for your family. (Hugs)

How soon did you see the blood in the stool? if she has a dairy intolerance wouldn't it have showed up earlier in her stools than at almost 5 weeks old?
it was about 5-6 weeks; i remember i was newly dairy free when we took L on a mini trip at 7 weeks old and i couldn't eat anything and was bitter. ha. we'd had other signs before then (she was an INSANE spit-upper). and family history, which is why we tried that first.
i wouldn't get too fixated on dairy. i brought it up only because i remember how scared i was to see blood in a diaper and because i wanted to reassure you that if it ISN'T just a bug that will pass quickly (we hope!), it might be something also rather easily fixable.
Nurse her often to make sure she stays hydrated. As long as she pees, she is fine. And lol I guess gastro is a canadian term because I immediately understood

Other signs of dehydration are no tears and dry mouth. DS caught a couple of stomach bugs as an infant and I'd take him in and they'd say he has slobber and tears, he's good. (DS doesn't pee when he's sick, he holds on to everything for a few days so dry diapers would send us in)
If you were around your mom yesterday, stomach stuff is super contagious. Wash hands, disinfect the bathrooms, sink handles, doorknobs and keep up with that for a few days after symptoms subside.
