The 15 miles would cross a 2 lane bridge that becomes pretty slow going during the afternoon with ferry traffic. If you time it just right you can make it in between ferries and not have to deal with the heavy traffic.
Option A is almost like a MIL apartment. Nice neighborhood. No idea of layout of apartment though
Option B is on a secluded driveway above an unattached garage. In a nice quiet area of the city.
Option A) Small 1 bedroom apartment, about 400 sq ft, availability july 1.
It is less than a mile to the ferry, about a 15 minute walk.
Price $650/month with garbage, water, electric, WIFI. It also has a washer/dryer in the apt.
Shared fenced yard. No smoking, and pets negotiable with additional deposit and +$25/month
Option B) We have a nice studio apt. above our detached garage that will be available the 15th of July. We are at the end of a 1300 ft drivcway on 21/2 acres approx. 3 miles from city. 600 sqft with a loft. Very private and secluded. No traffic. The $675 includes washer/dryer & utilities. Wifi is available We have a strict "no pets" "no smoking" policy.
Do you want to be in the city/closer to work, or would you like some peace and quiet (at least I'm thinking you'll get a bit of that being on 20+ acres)? I think that is the deciding factor for me.
I would pick #1. I like having a bedroom and I hate commuting. Also, is there a chance you will want a pet? That sounds possible with 1 but not 2. Good luck.

How long would you live there? I would want a little more space, but the gas savings and possible insurance savings of option A make it sound a bit more appealing if you are looking at this as a short term place.
I'd have to see them both to decide. Usually I prefer more space but layout and quality of the interior are probably more important. The 1 mile from work is pretty awesome, if that one is nice I'd probably take it. I'd also consider which one is closer to friends or family, since it would be nice to have their support nearby during the divorce. Good luck.
Right now I live about a mile from work as it is. Our apartment is about 650 sq ft and our rent is $950. So if I picked option a not much would change. My closest family is about an hour away. Option b would be closer to friends and would make my closest family about 40 minutes away. Both towns that the apartments are in are less than 25,000 people and really don't have too many bad areas.
