Has anyone gotten one? Does it hurt going in? I haven't had a postpartum period yet (Zoe was 9 months old before I got one) and my dr said it would be really painful to get one while not on my period. His assistant told me the same thing because she had it done. I don't want to get KU while we save money to get H snipped and me possibly get my tubes tied (or the procedure where they inject something to block your fallopian tubes).
I had my Mirena for about a year and a half and I loooved it. I so wish I hadn't had it taken out because now I'm not so keen on kid number three. I wasn't on my period when I had it inserted and it wasn't particularly painful. I just had cramps for a few hours. What did kind of sucked was that I spotted for several weeks after I got it. After a couple of months though, I stopped getting my period almost altogether. I am usually sensitive to hormonal forms of BC, but Mirena was low-level enough that I didn't notice any side effects. It was a great option for us when we were in the same position as you. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to get one again.
I have an implanon and did it right after T as well besides having a tiny scar it is AWESOME.
My dr does the ESSURE in office as well. But bc these may be considered "minor surgeries" by your insurance it might just be the same cost to do the vasectomy or tubal
I had a Mirena and loved it. My cycles were very regular. I had mine put in at 7 weeks PP. I had a PP period early since I was not BFing, but I don't recall being on my period when I had it put it. Take a motrin before and a tylenol after and you should not have any issues.
I did get pregnant with the IUD in; HOWEVER, after the miscarriage (blighted ovum, so it wasn't caused by the IUD), another doctor removed my Mirena and said that he doesn't recommend placing an IUD in any earlier than 3 months PP as it can dislodge since the uterus is still shrinking at 6-7 weeks. I was so sad to have it removed. The removal was more uncomfortable than the placing.
We are NFP/TTA until I can see a OB/GYN here (so far, so good!) I am going to try the pill again to see if it helps me lose any weight with the PCOS issue, and if not I will be getting another IUD put in. I have approx. 2.5 years until we are even thinking about another, and by then I might have started (finished?) my M.A. degree!
This is what I'm debating right now. We are done after this kid. I told my OB that I would like to get my tubes tied, but she said that since the hospital where I'm delivering at (St Joe's) is a Catholic hospital, they won't allow it. I don't think my OB's group is tied with another hospital either. She suggested Essure, but after doing some research online, I'm scared of all the side effects/complications. And a great number of women had gotten pregnant a few years after the procedure. So I think I'm gonna go with the IUD; but I've also heard about pregnancy stories with IUD. And I'm dead set against the pill.

I was afraid of that catholic hospital thing. I'd consider switching to a Dr that delivers at TGH at this point but I already paid my Dr.

I asked my OB today and if you have a c section at St Joes they will indeed perform a tubal. So there's that. But I think that's only if they are already in there. I did not ask if they'll do it alone.
