I'm annoyed at the Starbucks "La Boulange" purchase. Now they claim to carry La Boulange pastries but instead they carry sugared up, salted up, cheapo knock off versions. They raised my expectations then went down on quality. grrr. You know the next step will be crapping out at boulange, too.
(I think this might be a local thing. I should do a price check because I think they are charging boulange prices for the knock offs, too.)
I have no idea what this is, and I feel so unsophisticated.
Nothing sophisticated, just local (to CA? or just SF bay area?). Starbucks bought a local bakery chain and claims to carry their pastries. But they don't really and I'm grumpy. Perhaps they only pretend to do this locally.
These "new" pastries seem remarkably similar to the old ones, except some of them are now shaped differently (like the lemon cake is now a mini loaf instead of a slice from a big loaf. Whatever). My main gripe is now they feel compelled to heat EVERYTHING in the pastry case, but they still only have one little oven in which to heat everybody's sandwiches and pastries, and now it takes longer to get my pastry than it does to get my drink, which is stupid.
I don't need my croissant heated, mkay? You're just going to overheat it and turn it into shoe leather, and it's going to be cold by the time I get to my office, anyway.
