No? Neither did I, but National Grid just chopped down a tree to tell me this fascinating factoid. It probably has something to do with having electric heat in the winter, 7 air conditioners running in the summer and my 2 fridges with freezers and my chest freezer  (hot)

Why not put in split ac units and call it a day? In the long run, it'd be cheaper to just do that instead of having 7 a/c's.

Relatively speaking yes, but the walls won't support them right now until we renovate. It's all old horsehair and plaster i.e BIG mess.
