I have a beagle. She eats Wellness Healthy Weight (our other dog was on this food and she loved it, so she still eats it even though she's a normal weight). We feed her between 1 and 1.5 cups per day. She weighs 23 pounds. If she was on the normal adult food we wouldn't feed her more than 1 cup. The current variance depends on whether she decides to eat in the morning, which can be hit or miss.

My FIL is very sweet for watching our pups, and he has a huge affinity for Miranda. He is convinced that at 1/2 cup, twice a day is not enough food for her. I gave him a link to the rib test, and told her that she´s pretty good at manipulating us to get more food. Smart corgi!
Falf, our small foster (28 lbs), gets 2/3 cup dry in the AM and 2/3 cup dry in the PM. He also gets treats (usually some sort of veg or fruit) and a yogurt, banana and PB filled Kong when he goesin his crate for the day.
He is constantly in motion so I am not too concerned that it may be too much food.
ETA: This is the same amount of food we give Willow, our 65 lb lazy dog who sleeps all day and night. Thet different activity levels make such a difference.
We go by what's on the bag, he usually doesn't eat it all so I've backed it down a bit. The vet's not worried about his weight, at least not yet corgi's turning into a fatty.
