We Think we are going with a round sectional near the fire pit, then a dining table with a big umbrella next to it - but we might do a big sectional instead of the table and a cabana instead of the umbrella. Anyone have thoughts/pictures?
Also, we are considering having a BBQ station added. Has anyone done this/does anyone have pics to share?
I got my patio furniture at sears and I love it. However, if I lived in Southern California (or anywhere where outside is an option year round) and had a bigger budget I would probably go crazy at restoration hardware. I flip through their outdoor collection catalog like some people flip through porn.
miso, i've been eying your set (i am also in love with everything room and board), but we won't be able to pony up for that for awhile. so, it's spray painted old busted ikea furniture until at least next year . . . probably more like 2015. lol.
my primary hesitation is that i MUST have an umbrella (we're not going to put up any sort of permanent trellis/cover since all of the patio area will, if it becomes anything other than an open-air patio, be part of a screen porch). and all of the most durable/attractive/worth investing in sets i keep finding lack the hole in the middle. and those swoopy over from the side umbrellas look like one strong wind gust away from major structural damage to my house, to me.
anyway, for those looking for something cheap, ikea applaro is just fine. except if you don't care for it the way you're supposed to care for wood, you might end up spray painting it after about 2 years. i have a bright, sunny yellow applaro in my backyard right now. it gets a fresh coat every summer. lol.
Our upstairs set came from the grocery store ten years ago, and we just replaced the chairs this year at Target. My bitchin' gazebo set came piecemeal from Craigslist
So not what you were looking for, I know. I love Miso's set. I think I want to be Miso in my next life.
I recently got us the Rocha rectangular dining table from C&B. I got 4 matching chairs and a bench, then a stripey umbrella (it goes in the middle of the table, cville, in case you're interested!). I got solid cushions for the chairs and bench and a few back bolster cushions that match the stripey umbrella.
Here's a picture from C&B. I really like it so far, it looks much nicer in person than I thought it would:
I love mine, but it's nothing close to what you're looking for. If I had a beautiful outdoor space that I could use all year round, I'd invest in some Brown Jordan furniture.
I'm going to get the sofa, chair and elephants @misoangry posted (for the fire pit), and a table and chairs like @weeble's. If we have the space, I would also like the double lounger. Then I will get a cabana custom built I think, so we can mount a television on it. Thanks ladies! As always, hours of work averted.
kidding. I actually haven't bought yet b/c I'm looking for SUPER cheap but I have a lot of wishes for my furniture. I'm stalking your post b/c it's one of my fave things to browse lately.

We have the same table and chairs (no bench or umbrella) and its great. It sits out in the SoCal sun but it stays cool enough to eat at by dinner time. Highly recommend.
Will see if we have any pictures. Even if you don't do a built in BBQ, I highly recommend doing a natural gas line to the BBQ area if there isn't one already.
For a sectional, we actually found ours at Ikea (Ammerö) www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/series/17747/ . For the price, it's surprisingly nice and we've been quite happy with it. Eventually we'll likely reupholster the cushions (though they are washable), but it's definitely super comfy. We were also able to get a ton of pieces (we have a chaise, 5 side chairs, and a corner).
We do keep the cushions in one of our deck boxes, which is another thing I'll recommend. We have one on our roof, and also one on the balcony off of our master. We got teak boxes from Costco. Costco is actually another place that I'd definitely recommend checking out. The ILs got their sectional from Costco and it's really nice.
I will say that we love having a sectional. It's perfect both for me laying out in the sun, and also great for having parties. It's really easy to fit more people on a sectional vs. say regular chairs. And with the chaise lounge, you don't need an additional lounge chair.
Current dining table and chairs is from Crate and Barrel (no longer available), but the color has been fading on the chairs so I'm not sure if I'm super happy with them.
Current side table is from Chiasso (store is closed).
