Did anyone watch Top of the Lake?

I did! I liked it. A little slow starting but good acting.

Me too! I think you will like it then. Oddly, Elizabeth Moss is playing an Australian and the woman from Outrageous Fortune (Aussie) is playing an American.

I gave up on the Killing, because I was so pissed that they left the first season on a cliffhanger!

Hmm, maybe you won't like it then. It wasn't as neatly wrapped up as a normal American detective show would be.

Did you see Public Enemies with Daniel Mays and Anna Friel? That's pretty good. And The Fall with Gillian Anderson, both on Netflix instant and more complete stories despite being UK.

I liked both The Fall and Top of the Lake. IMO, Top of the Lake, a mini-series, ends more conclusively than The Fall, which hasn't started shooting its second season yet. 

I just finished Top of the Lake last night and I would definitely recommend it. The first few episodes are weird and disturbing - you aren't quite sure yet what you're watching. You learn a lot about the place and the people before the show starts peeling back layers and delves into some history. I'm glad I stuck it out and finished it.
