Does anyone else have this problem re: shorts?

The shorts in my size fit great as long as I'm standing but it looks like my thighs are exploding out of them when I'm sitting. I tried the next size up and those look oddly baggy when standing and normal while sitting.

This is driving me crazy.

Yes. I have larger thighs, and I have a similar issue. It takes just the right cut of shorts to look good. I've found some with a very slight flare to them work best. Banana Republic and Loft is where I usually get lucky. I also have a narrow waist, so I often have to buy a size that fits my butt and thighs, and then take them in at the waist.

That happens to me too. My muscular thighs just don't well in shorts. I've found about 3 pairs in the last 5 years that work.

Yup, I have enormous thighs (the better to squat with!) and I have the same problem. My best fitting shorts came from Ann Taylor.

Yes, I have huge thighs. I have mostly given up on shorts (I have some sweatpants like shorts that I wear around the house) in favor of skirts.

I just don't wear shorts ever for this reason. I wear jeans all year round. I am considering getting some sun dresses for vacation though.

Yes. It seems somewhat counterintuitive, but wearing shorter shorts actually makes this less of an issue for me. I like the 3" shorts from old navy, are somewhat roomier than other short shorts.
