I have Crayola washable finger paint and kid's paint.
Any recommendations for brushes? Something easy to clean that holds up well?
And it this going to be a complete mess? My son is 2 1/2. I'm guessing this should be an outdoor activity followed by a bath? Or will I just end up hosing him down outside?
Anyone have any tips or hints?
ETA: Bonus points if I can get the stuff from Amazon.

I like the thick nylon brushes because they are so easy to clean. If you put a drop cloth down it should be fine. I let W paint in a diaper. You could have him put on a little smock if you want.

What's easier to clean up - kid wearing only a diaper, or kid wearing older clothing? I don't mind tossing the clothing if they get trashed. I'm trying to avoid a giant mess, though.
also something that can be done independently is painting on black construction paper with a paint brush and water.....kids love watching it appear and disappear when it dries

2 yr old + paint = giant mess. You're setting yourself up for a freak out! He'll have a blast, though.

We always paint before bath time, so it's easier for me in a diaper. I think paint clothes might be easier for you. You can always try it and see what happens. I don't think it's going to be as messy as you think it will be. If he starts getting crazy with the paints just shut it down. My preschoolers painted almost daily and it wasn't a big deal. Don't do it on a rug, obviously!
I get everything at lakeshore not sure of brand names....ill check
Discount School Supply is usually cheaper. If you order from either company be sure to search online for a coupon code or call the company to see if they have any coupons. You can usually save 10-20% that way.

Hmm... Thanks for the tip. Think I may have found some spill proof cups.
We use some brushes from ikea. The crayola stuff washes out generally. I tend to just squirt some paint on a paper plate for him and refill if needed. I have a friend that uses sections of egg cartons.
He just paints at our table. I have a couple plastic mats and if it gets in the table I sometimes need baking soda to scrub it off but it doesn't bother me since the table is cheap. At this point I've done so much damage to it I rarely scrub the paint off.
