For years now I've only used black liner on my upper lid. I have small eyes that are close set. When I have tried either lining my lower waterline or putting eyeliner all around my eye (a la Kate Middleton) I look ridiculous.
I look OK when I line about the outer third of my lower lid. But I want to try something different. If I use black liquid liner on the top, would you suggest perhaps a light brown shadow on the outer third on the bottom? I've looked at ton of youtube tutorials and just can't figure out what looks best on me. I'd love suggestions of more things to try.
To add: I have brown eyes, brown hair, fair complexion.

Unless I'm doing a really dark eye I usually always use the darkest shade of eye shadow I am wearing that day to line my lower lid (about 2/3 of the way)

I usually wear black liquid liner on my upper lid and either nothing on the lower lid or I line my waterline with black or white eyeliner. White eyeliner is great for making your eyes appear larger (which I also need help with) and more awake.
I do black on top & bottom now. I do a pencil liner along my upper lashes & lower waterline, then smudge black shadow along my upper & lower lashes to set it. Pic from the last MOTD post.
I used to hate the way I looked w/bottom liner because I wasn't used to it. I started by using a brown liner on the bottom, since it's more natural. After I was used to that, I moved to blue, purple, etc. Now, I can't imagine *not* wearing bottom liner. It does do much to define my eyes.
Not very often. It doesn't look like Kore's (aka amazing). I think it makes me look very make-up heavy, kwim? I am much more likely to do the outer third of my eye.
No, because I think it looks awful on me. And every time that I'm in a wedding or whatever and the makeup artist does that, it just confirms that the look isn't for me. So I give up.
This exactly. But I kind of want to try the white eyeliner on the water line thing. Maybe that would do something for me.

I do that, and love it. Makes me look way more awake and younger. (Although I'm always looking for a less crumbly alternative to Eye Bright to achieve that).
I use Rimmel's Soft Kohl Kajal pencil in pure white. It goes on really smoothly and isn't crumbly. It's inexpensive, so it wouldn't hurt to try it out.
