My favorite quote from a comment maker.... "However, swearing an oath of allegiance to a country in a context similar to the way an immigrant becoming a US citizen, will cause one to give up their US citizenship."

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
FYI, there is a difference in many countries' laws between earning/applying for citizenship and having it as a birthright. My country only changed their law in the last 15-20 years to allow you to apply for foreign citizenship and keep your Australian citizenship.
And the US is one of those countries
Also, a person who is automatically granted another citizenship does not risk losing U.S. citizenship. However, a person who acquires a foreign citizenship by applying for it may lose U.S. citizenship. In order to lose U.S. citizenship, the law requires that the person must apply for the foreign citizenship voluntarily, by free choice, and with the intention to give up U.S. citizenship.
Yeah, but they never, ever, ever follow through on making someone lose their US citizenship - that would mean losing out on potential tax payers!
Right.
You actually have to go down to the embassy and sign your citizenship away AND they suggest you already have another citizenship since if you don't you will be stateless.
Just by swearing to an oath "like the USA one" the poster references does not AUTOMATICALLY cause you to lose your USA citizenship. The poster made no comment nor illusion it was done with intent. Just that doing so is a automatic boot out of the states. Which is false.
And what Australia's laws have to do with any if this is beyond me. She is dealing with American and Swiss dual nationalities.
Denmark requires one to renounce BEFORE they grant you citizenship, but then they back-date the citizenship documents so that you end up not having been stateless (even though you kinda were…). I know someone who renounced and someone else who attempted to renounce but was denied. They don't make it easy. And they don't just yoink it from you because you have another passport.
