What an emotional roller coaster

This week has been full of exciting highs and very heart pulling emotions.

GMIL was her typical spunky self. She and her trashy comments had belly laughs from all of us. She and M are still not talking. I have a funny story about that.

We had several family get togethers that were full of laughter, food and fun. It was refreshingly nice to see extended family.

In the mix we had two aunts (my mom's sister E and H's great aunt) put into the hospital, my aunt J and cousin lost their home in a fire, and the one year mark of losing H's step-grandfather, C, and the 14 year mark of losing H's grandfather J.

My aunt has terminal cancer. We've known for several weeks. On Wed., she was admitted for emergency surgery due to complications from chemo. Today I went to see her and she gave me a blanket she crocheted. I cried, She is my go to for crafts and all things party planning. I'm so devastated.

We took GMIL to put flowers on J's and C's graves. A was cool at J's. we got to C's and the kid lost her shit. She wanted to see him and dig him up. She wanted to make ice cream with him.

Needless to say the Kleenex company loves us.

I'm glad you had a great visit but I'm sorry for the heartache. It seems to be the story of your family - lots of highs and lots of lows. I hope the highs outweighed the lows this trip!

I think my family is too close and too big. It seems like there is always something going on. It was a fantastic week. We had way more happy moments than sad. The cookouts were fabulous.

I did forget to add my cousin announcing his wife is expecting. They are close to 50. They both have grown children and grandchildren. R had a vasectomy after his last child was born 1997.
