I don't know how long ago your surgery was but when I had surgery I lost a ton of hair. I think the stress of the surgery did it. I also lost a lot of weight quickly bc I was on a liquid diet which compounded things. I also got my period way early the morning following the surgery (which sucked) and then didn't get it again for like 3 months. Surgery is a major stressor to the body.
Definitely follow up with your doctor but unfortunately I think it's more normal than not.

My surgery was Wednesday. The hair loss has been happening for about two weeks.
I have straight fine hair, but a shit ton of it. I lose clumps of hair when I shower, like a big wad of it every time which is usually every other day and I rarely use heat or styling products. I think if you have a lot of hair you tend to shed a lot of hair and its just kind of normal.
If i remember correctly they say you normally lose around 100-200 hairs a day.
I go through a period like this every four years or so, as if all my hair decides to fall out at once. Stress doesn't do it for me ( or I'd be bald) but diets do - and you are losing a fair amount of weight, no? Try biotin.
Stress can make you lose your hair at a seemingly alarming rate.
Stress? Why would I be stressed?
*eye roll*
lol
I guess I don't even realize the stress in my life because I've just accepted it as a norm.
lol. I'm not talking so much hair you'll go bald, but between your husband's stuff and kind of feeling down about it all, that could absolutely contribute to it.
Other wise, I have very thin hair but a ton of it. I shed like no tomorrow. Hair on my clothing IS a part of my wardrobe (mainly because I don't notice it until someone picks it off of me....embarrassing!) And when I shower, a lot more comes out.
