A little girl (say around 9 or so) comes to your house trying to sell a picture she drew to raise money for her dogs birthday party. When you politely say no, she says "Not even a dollar?"
The kids in my neighborhood try to sell me EVERYTHING - rocks they've painted, pictures they drew, glitter art, etc. I've stopped buying b/c it's SO frequent and they also knock past DS's bedtime. I used to buy one for like 10 cents, but then they started asking for more. INFLATION!
I love this so much and totally would have given her a dollar. I was all about this stuff as a kid. I would set up my bicycle upside down and charge people to spin the wheel (I called it spin and win) and they would get a happy meal toy or yarn bracelet. I totally bought the first nkotb tape with that cash
My DD and her BFF set up a lemonade stand at BFF's house just a few houses down from us a few weeks ago. Apparently at some point my DD decided it would be a good idea to go around to the houses in the neighborhood giving people flyers for lemonade and trying to sell them nasty old apples from our tree. She is 9 and therefor she is a weirdo at times. I told her not to do that anymore. I am sure our neighbors that she was a total turd for trying to sell them old apples.
I would just laugh. Kids do weird things. As a kid I sold all kinds of crazy shit, and my neighbors actually gave me money sometimes. My BFF and I sold rocks (that we thought had gold in them-lol) and other things. If it makes it any better, we donated all of the money to the children's hospital, lol. My mom was probably in the house on the phone smoking a cigarette
