My oldest DS had it at a month old. Apparently its prevalent in first born male children. His spit up was projectile and at a month old he was still hovering right at his birth weight. I took him to doctor after doctor and finally found one who would take me seriously. But obviously he wasn't thriving due to his weight at one month.
Surgery was easy-breasy (in hindsight)... he was in and out in about an hour. They went thru his belly button so there is no noticeable scar.
It did help him because he finally started to gain weight after that. He also had severe reflux, so he did spend the first year of his life constantly spitting up. But he's a healthy 6 1/2 year old now!
Let me know if you have any questions. Or if she does. I know I called a mom I didn't know and asked her about it and it helped calm me immensely.

DS1 has this. Had surgery at 8 weeks of age, quick recovery. He is now 5 and doing great. It is a scary thing to go through, but it will be fine. Best wishes!
My brother had it and had surgery when he was a few months old, in the late 80s. It was very scary at the time, but today he's a completely healthy 24 year old. To my knowledge he hasn't had any issues since.
My nephew had it at around 8 weeks. The surgery was really quick. They transferred him to a children's hospital to do it. He hasn't had any issues since. It was scary at the time but I think it is a pretty common issue. It is also a lot more common in boys than girls, also more prevalent for babies with a certain blood type (I want to say B positive but I don't entirely remember), and also more prevalent in babies with Jewish heritage. My poor nephew hit all three categories.
I had this as an infant. Had surgery at 3 months old. No problems other than a 4 inch scar on my abdomen below my right rib cage (and I believe they to the surgery laproscopically now).
DS had this at 7 weeks. For a good week they though he had a virus b/c he was gaining weight fine and did not have projectile vomit. I finally took him in and let him vomit blood then demanded a referral to children's. I think b/c I was 25 they assumed he was spitting up vs puking b/c it didn't project and he was double his birth weight.
The surgery and recovery were east, can barely see his scar and he's 5. The IV was pretty hard for me to watch.
