It will figure itself out. If you pump whenever you leak, you're teaching your body to make lots of milk and let it down all the time. Eventually you'll stop leaking.
I breastfed my two kids and leaked all the time. I had to wear breast pads and bras 24/7 for the entire time. Annoying, but normal.
As for supply - I just want to say that you are pumping about the same amounts I always did. 3-4oz is a good portion for their little bodies. I know it's hard, but try really hard to trust your body!
Yeah, I had to wear those freakin pads for a year! Leaking is normal. And really, 3-4 oz at this age is really good! Both my kids drank 4 oz every 3 hours from 4-6 months of age, when they need the MOST milk. You're doing great! Kudos to you for keeping up the pumping with your surgery!
Yeah, I remember you posting your concerns, but I wasn't sure what the outcome was or if you'd seen the pedi since, done a weighted feeding, whatever. I will say that I would NOT be up for feeding every hour on a regular basis, so I don't blame you if you make the decision to keep EPing in part or in total to avoid that. I'm also going to say* that, looking back from the other side, I personally wish I had just skipped right over EPing and gone straight to formula when I decided not to nurse. But I hated lactating, and it made me miserable. You might not hate it. lol. And, you know, rah rah breastmilk and all that.
*I am only saying this because maybe she hates it too and doesn't want to admit it even to herself because she feels like it makes her less of a woman or a bad mother or any other number of things we let ourselves get hung up on as moms, especially as new moms. So please don't biff me, frkls! Just wanted to put it out there.
I actually DO enjoy BF and pumping for the most part, but only because she is getting my milk. I don't care as much about the "feeding at the breast" part as I do about the "consuming my milk" part. However she gets it works for me. It's nice to cuddle and stuff during nursing, but it's equal parts frustrating when she's always falling asleep and nibbling instead of getting full feeds.
This is exactly how I felt! I am still pumping 4 to 5 times a day and get around 15 oz. She is getting some breast milk so I feel good about what I am doing. I about quit at 8 weeks because I was still trying to bf and would have to give 2 or more ounces when done. My relief at knowing how much she is getting each feed helped me tremendously.
