Our cat has only three legs and since he's getting up in age now (almost 10), he's struggling to jump up on the couch, bed, etc. He also has bad nights with his stump seizing up on him and I have to help him relax it.
The vet has recommended cosequin, which is a glucosamine and chondroitin supplement, but will not prescribe it for my cat without me bringing him in.
Now, I know cats and dogs in general hate the vet, but my cat is really bad about it and I'd rather not take him in if I don't completely have to. This vet knows my cat, has seen him repeatedly, knows his condition, his age, etc. Basically, I would rather buy this supplement from Amazon if he won't prescibe it. I mean, it's a supplement not actual medication.
My question is have any of you had to use this with your pets? Cats or dogs? And what was your experience? Thanks!

If the vet recommended it I see nothin wrong with buying it elsewhere. If it does not help then make an appointment to rule out any new issues. My dog growing up was on cosequin for his front leg. A DD drove in our yard and hit him at 4, so as he got older that leg would cramp and bother him. It really did help.

My elderly cat took it for a couple of years and I think it really helped him stay active longer. (He was 19 1/2 when he died). Hope it helps your guy!
