Ugh. My mom just emailed me and told me that my stepdad has skin cancer. I guess they find out a few days ago and were trying to keep it under wraps until a doctor appointment he's got coming up, but she couldn't stand it anymore.
I guess he went to the derm to have a “fast changing” mole removed from his lower thigh. He got the results and we don’t have all the details yet but it was confirmed that it is skin cancer. It's not the easily removable kind, either. The derm doesn’t know how far spread the cancer is or if it’s in the nodes. He's seeing a surgeon this week to determine what's going on.
The dermatologist told us this isn’t a death sentence assuming it was caught in time and it could all be removed. If not, that’s a different story.
T's and P's if you have them, and would love to hear good stories if you've got those too.

Thanks guys. I really hope this was caught early. He had basil cell carcinoma several years ago that was caught and treated so I know he's been to the derm for checkups since then. Hopefully we got this early enough.
