What are your meals like? Heavy protein and veggies? Do you eat fruit sometimes? I think I need to go carb free again but Im looking for motivation and a realistic plan.

i had to do super low carb for several months while i got a fuckload of tests done, and it was mostly lean meats and veggies. i did still eat fruit but i probably wasn't supposed to.

I did the slow carb diet this past year and I ate mostly beans, avocados, meats, eggs, lentils, etc. I lost 20 lbs doing it, but it's really hard to maintain. When I tried to reincorporate the food I had cut out, I ended up gaining most of the weight back.
I'm trying weight watchers now, and it's SO much easier.

What's a reasonable about of carbs per day? Should they come from veggies and fruit and not the more obvious choices like bread and potatoe's? Or is a carb esemtially a carb no matter what form?

I've limited carbs to around 40g per day for a year now. I eat lots of meats (I try to balance between higher fat and lower fat proteins throughout the day) and low carb veggies. Tons of salad, broccoli, green beans, carrots. Snacks are primarily nuts and string cheese.
There is a low carb, fat free milk that's really good. I use it with just a little cream for my lattes.

My H and I eat low carb, meaning no bread, rice, pasta. We try to stay away from beans or corn that have more carbs than other vegetables. We've been eating this way for awhile (H more strictly than me) and H has been able to keep of 70 lbs that he lost.
I eat mostly protein and veggies, but I don't think it's healthy to go completely carb free. I eat whole grains though; no white pasta, bread, potatoes, or rice. White foods are completely optional in our house.
Now that I got that out. I eat a low-moderate carb Paleo. When I'm eating lower carb, I'm in the 50-75g range. I eat most of my sense carbs post workout. Breakfast is meat, eggs, and a small serving of veggies. Lunch is meat, veggies, sometimes berries. Dinner (post workout) is meat, veggies, and sweet potatoes or a banana.

I cut out almost all bread, rice and pasta, too. But I go all out on fruits and veggies. I thought giving up the grains would be hard, but I really don't miss them.
I've cut out sugar, pasta, rice, bread, etc., from my diet earlier this year. I eat meat, vegetables (except the starchy ones), eggs, cheese, nuts. I only eat fruit a couple of times a week.
It's been much easier than I thought it would be and I'm down about 55 lbs since January.
On the rare occasion that I really want to cheat and eat something sweet or high in carbs, I let myself have one or two bites of whatever (cheesecake, bread, etc) and the throw the rest of it out.
Nothing I eat tastes as good as how I feel about my weight loss.
It's easy for me though (meal planning wise) because I don't have children to cook for.
I did the first few weeks of the 17 day diet a while back. The first 17 days you're almost totally carb-free, even starchy veg and fruits. It was brutal. I felt like I could hardly eat anything, especially since I don't eat meat.
I wouldn't recommend it. I lost exactly zero pounds.

I don't eat bread, pasta, rice, etc. and really don't eat much processed food, but I still get a fair amount of carbs. I do limit starchy veggies, but not fruit, basically because if I hate how I'm eating I won't stick to it. I've lost about 40lbs so far (a lot of working out too), so I'll stick with it I think.
I'd just cut out some of the cruddier carbs. Chips, white bread, white rice, etc. Go for brown or wild rice in smaller servings, whole wheat bread, sweet potatoes.
