What temp us your house at night mid summer? I'm being a worry wart right now. I'm an air conditioning aholic. I live in Florida, I'm pregnant and I have a 1 year old. My AC is blowing constantly tonight but its blowing warm air. The thermostat is set at 73 but the actual temp is 79. The outside temp is 84. My girl is sound asleep. How hot is too hot before you would wake a sleeping baby? I've got someone coming early tomorrow morning to fix whatever is wrong with it.
I wouldn't wake her on less it was 90. And even then I'd just undress her. When we first moved in our house Anna was a baby and we didn't have a/c. It was typically 80+ in the house and we just had the ceiling fans going and she slept in just her diaper.
We keep it at 75 when we're home, bump it up to 78 if we're gone all day. I'd go higher, but I have a very fluffy dog, lol.
I wouldn't wake her unless it got hot enough that you needed to strip her down to a diaper - maybe 90 or so. Which hopefully won't happen if it's 84 outside.
We're babies about the heat and keep ours at 72-73 when it's really hot out. At night, we might push it up to 74. I hate being hot, especially when I sleep.
ETA: Ditto not waking her up at 79. If it starts getting high 80s, then maybe wake her up to strip clothes. Of course, I don't have kids, so I really have no idea what they can handle temp-wise, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
Ok I'm feeling better about it. She sweats a lot so I know she can regulate and I don't guess it will get hotter than the outside temp. We can handle 1 night at 80. It is at least blowing for circulation, although it hasn't stopped in hours so its starting to irritate me because I'm thinking of the cost. Whatever. It's just one night right?
No babies but we keep it at 75 at night. There are millions of babies who slept without ac daily. I would not wake her up , maybe just take off her clothes. .
You are the girl my H is dreaming of. We fight all summer long about the air conditioning. 75 is perfect and you all are crazy people!
OP, I've learned to live by the rule "if they're uncomfortable, they'll wake up" It's helped to cure some of my anxiety. I've snuck in before and set up a fan when I thought it was too hot, but I'm sure you're fine.
During the day about 74. At night, I run hotter at night and so I keep it at 71-72. I wouldn't wake her up. If she is uncomfortable, she will wake up on her own.
We didn't have a/c at our old house. There were a couple of weeks in the summer where it was above 80 degrees in the house when we went to bed. We kept DS in light clothing and he was fine.
Our AC is brand new. Well 5 years new, because we financed it for 5 years and the last payment is next month. So I guess it's not that new, but it's a badass Trane and isn't supposed to not work already. We replaced a 25 year old Trane unit that was working just fine because we wanted to do it before the tax credit ended that year. Moral - I should be nice and cool right now dammit. I'm a 72 girl.
Mmmm, it is 87 on the first floor right now (no central air). We run a window unit in our bedroom at night (and a fan), it doesn't have a temp gauge though - I would guess mid to high 70s.
Everything's relative. I'm in az, so anything lower than 77 is freezing and will make your ass go broke. I am comfortable w ours set at 79 with ceiling fans. I still sometimes get a little chilly at that temp.
We keep it at 73 at night. Daytime range is anywhere between 74-77, depending on what I feel like changing it to. I drive DH nuts because I'm always at the thermostat messing with it.
Sorry your AC is out - it's miserable in FL without AC, even at night. I hate humidity.
