Ah damn. Someone with that much spunk (read: insanity) I was hoping to at least have like a cheetah one with hot pink bows. Something snazzy. She let me down.
I will say the heat is fucking brutal in the office now that it's the afternoon. Like my face feels all hot and flushed and it's hard to think straight and do good work. The reasons the boss won't fix the air conditioning are just as inane as the attorney taking off her bra.
I try to just stay out of shit and keep my head down. Hopefully I'll be able to continue to do so. I do a good job and bring in clients, and the heat right now sucks, but the boss will eventually get tired of sweating. And having no support staff as a solo was still worse than sweating at the office for a few days.

Do you have any clients scheduled during this no a/c period? I would think they'd be horrified, not to mention uncomfortable. Does the owner not care if this costs her business?

She is crazy. She doesn't think about the fact that clients will be uncomfortable, and everyone is going to bill less when we are miserably hot, which will substantially reduce her own income. She fixates on really crazy things and can't look past them, will send out scathing emails, and be stubborn like this to prove a point that doesn't even make sense.

Oh, and thankfully I have no clients scheduled to come in until Monday, and I'm also in mediation all day tomorrow and out of the office. I wouldn't meet with one of my own clients here right now since it's so unprofessional and if a client needs to meet, I'd schedule to meet elsewhere.
The AC went out once when I was in dental school. One of the 80-year-old clinic doctors decided to take his shirt off and just wear his white lab coat. Sweat + white coat = hello nipples and chest hair. He walked around the clinic all afternoon checking patients like that. Heat makes people do crazy shit.
Maybe if your office spent less on snacks, it could get the air conditioning fixed.
Oh, it's not about money. Well, it is, but the problem isn't lack of money. The boss is mad at the front office staff because she claims they authorized $4,000 of insulation to be installed at the office on Monday, but SHE is the one who verbally authorized it, most of the office heard her do it, and none of the front office staff even talked to the worker. They just came to work the day after the boss verbally authorized the work and the insulation was being installed. Then a scathing email is sent out about how they have no authority to authorize an expense like that, and they were all wtf, we don't even buy toilet paper without your authorization because you are crazy.
Today she told everyone that she isn't getting the email fixed because they authorized the insulation work. It's not because she doesn't have the money now. It's to punish them.

It's so fucking hot I don't even make sense now. My head is pounding. This is nuts. Email = AC.
Well I just walked of of the office and said I had to go somewhere to cool off. Boss doesn't allow working from home, even when the power was out from a fire, so I'm not going to even ask about that. I'm taking a long late lunch and she's going to have to deal with it since I was so hot I started to feel dizzy and sick to my stomach.
Naked lawyer was wearing her top when I left, so I guess either the boss said something to her or she felt like she got the point across and could get dressed.
There is soooo much craziness in this office. There's the underwear attorney, the crazy boss, and then the attorney who absolutely refuses to go to court. We are litigators. She's not straight out of law school. However, instead of firing her or just telling her to go to court or be fired, the associate will refuse to go to court when asked and then the boss gives her the silent treatment. The silent treatment is so bad that the boss will bring a paralegal into the associate's office and will talk to the paralegal, who then must relay the message to the associate. This happens over and over.

I once worked somewhere where women would walk around with their bras over their shirts, and use magic marker as eyeshadow. Except they were patients at a hospital for the mentally ill.
Surely there are other jobs with benefits. I mean, I'm glad there's some comic relief, but no A/C is NOT FUNNY. I'd organize a strike.
Actually, no. I'd tell them I'm going home, and it's their option whether they want to let me work from there or if they want to fire me. It's one thing if the A/C breaks and things get uncomfortable while waiting for the emergency repair guy, but refusing to fix it is unacceptable.
I cannot imagine working with her, but she sounds like she has spunk. It takes major cajones (and a sprinkle of crazy) to take your top off at work.
I agree. I also don't dislike her. She's a really good attorney, which is why this doesn't get her fired. She definitely has extreme reactions to things, but I do always agree with her that whatever she is reacting to is crazy. The way she responds is just over the top. She's a colorful character, though, and at least her craziness gives me something to laugh at in a situation that actually sucks pretty bad.
Look, I work for the county with a bunch of civil servants, so I completely understand a staff full of nutters, but what you've described is really just too much.
