Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
Way to judge an entire country by, I'm assuming, a trip to either Nassau or Freeport, maybe one of the cruise ship's private islands. There are something like 700 islands there.
My least favorite is any town that has a large cruise ship presence. I think they're all pretty great when you get away from that. Like, Dominica was awful at the port, and it was one of my favorite places to hike. The poverty was depressing, though.
ok then I do not like Nassau on the island of New Providence...better?
Yep, at least it's responsive to the question. The question that YOU asked.
Sibil-- I think a lot of the responses are based on quick cruise stops, not actual extended stays on the island. I stopped in Jamaica on a cruise and didn't care for it but I loved my trip to Negril. I am not a fan of Nassau or Freeport, but I love some of the out islands. I think it's tough to judge an entire island/country based on an extremely short stay, especially when you've only visited a cruise port. But that's just my opinion.
To answer the question, my least favorite Caribbean island is probably Aruba.

So actually you have no idea where I have been in the Bahamas, you are just assuming I don't like it because you think I have been on a cruise?
Since it is MY opinion I have every right to say I am not a fan of the Bahamas. I have never been on a cruise there but have in fact been to the Bahamas more than once and have yet to be impressed by my time there. Sorry if that is offensive to you.

I don't assume you've been on a cruise (that's what the maybe implied), but I assume you've been to the most populous areas. Or did you dislike the Abacos, Eleuthras, Berries, Exumas?
Whatever, I'm not offended, but it's a country you're writing off instead of an island. It's as offensive to me as someone saying they hate America b/c they went to LA and didn't like it. Or if they dislike Mexico b/c their AI in Cancun didn't meet their standards. No skin off my back, but I consider it pretty ridiculous.

Oddly enough I have been to Great Exuma Island. And Abacos. And Bimini. I didn't love them, so I don't think it is ridiculous for me to state that I am not a fan of the Bahamas. I would prefer to travel elsewhere in the Caribbean, although to be fair the Caribbean wouldn't even be my first choice since we do most of our travel overseas and not there.
