odd question for those on ADs

I just started prozac a few weeks ago and I've noticed my hands and arms, if I concentrate enough, feel odd.  It's like this heavy, floating feeling and it's like my arms feel separated from the rest of my body. It starts in my hands and ends at my elbow.

I'm trying to figure if that is a side effect or if that's from typing on a computer and using an ipod too much.

It's definitely the out of body experiences. You didn't read that on the side effects label? They start distal and move proximal in the upper body.

You'll get used to it after a while.

I have never experienced that, in all of the ADs I have taken over the years, but I also have never taken Prozac.

I kid, I kid. I have no idea. I was on prozac for the longest and had other problems, but not like this.

I had that side affect in my legs - it went away though

I wouldn't doubt it. I had issues with swallowing when I started lexapro. Nearly choked several times bc it's like my swallow reflex was broken. Even with saliva. It was so weird.

Same here. My arms go numb/feel really light when I have a panic attack.

The fact that you have to concentrate *REALLY HARD* to feel it makes me think it's a subconscious side effect like you were so sure you'd have terrible side effects you're making up for the fact that you aren't.

I've had that and I'm not on ADs. I felt like my arms could just sink into my desk or something but only for a minute or so.

I've taken several ADs over the years and have had that feeling on almost every one. It does go away but it takes a while.
