Of the welts on my skin from the retinol I tried to get rid of my acne It was the inspiration for trying Ole Henricksen skincare, which I posted about on here a bunch....you know, after I was done with the prescription steroids
It just made me realize how much of my self esteem STILL revolves around how my skin looks
PS-6 month update- I could not be more pleased with my skin, although I have replaced some of the expensive Ole products with less expensive alternatives
lol, Chesh. You did tell me I needed to see a damned medical professional.
I think it was right after I told you they were oozing.
Also, I slept with my makeup on for like, the first two months I was dating M. Because it was cool if he saw me naked, but not if he saw my bare skin. Whut.
Want to hear how crazy I am? When I have a breakout, I just put the pink Mario Badescu benadryl (is that what it's called?) looking stuff on it. Can't see it, and it treats it! So, rather than walk around with the blemish showing, I have a giant pink dot on my face.
wash with Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash use Ole Truth Serum moisturize with Simple Light Moisturizer with SPF 15
Night: remove makeup with Ponds Cold Cream wash with Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash treat acne with Peter Thomas Roth Spot and Area Treatment moisturize with Simple Moisturizer no spf
once or twice a week I use the Ole Flash Peel and once or twice a week I use the Alpha Hydrox 12% AHA lotion. I think these two products are almost identical in terms of what they do. I am still conducting my experiment
The derm was really fascinated that a product intended to boost collagen production would have such a drastic effect in someone with a collagen disorder.
I didn't have welts, but I did this to my face with Retin A. Tretinoin and retinol can be pretty harsh! This is a pic of my cheek, with the rash ending at my jaw line. The redness was on both sides of my face, starting below the eyes and going down to the jawline. It popped up suddenly and wouldn't go away. Then I tried a copper peptide night cream and it was amazing. Copper peptides help with wound healing.
This was my skin I think the day after I used the copper peptide cream. It literally went from the pic above, which it looked like for a few days with no improvement, to the pic below after one night of using the cream. Try to ignore the fact that my face is darker and a little orange compared to my neck. I had on a TM that clearly doesn't work with my skin.

Your skin actually looks nice in that pic except for that one blotch. That's crazy for an OTC product to cause a reaction like that! I'm glad it cleared up and you found something that works well for you.
My cheeks are where the worst of my acne was. The skin there had puckers and divets and generally looked inflamed all the time. Constant acne just under the surface gave it a really bumpy look.

This stuff is my favourite!!!!! Except I just finished my bottle two or three months ago and tried to buy more, and apparently it's illegal to sell here in Canada now. I can still get the rest of the Mario Bedescu line here, but not this stuff. I can't even order it online through the company and have them ship it here, because they won't allow it over the border
Soooo if anyone wants to smuggle some across for me, I'll love you forever...
I actually need a new bottle, want me to get 2 and send it? I don't know how shipping would be but I'd be happy to help!
