DS normally goes to bed at 7:30. For the past two weeks, he's been fighting going to sleep. Last night, he didn't fall asleep until 9:30.
We also used to be able to put him down awake in his crib, and he'd fall asleep on his own. Now he screams when we leave the room. One of us has to lay on the floor next to his crib until he falls asleep.
He's been napping normally with no issue.
We tried CIO -- he will just cry and cry, and checking in on him only makes him more upset.
We're going through the same thing. My excellent sleeper is a totally different kid now and I can't figure out what to do. Thankfully it's not to the point that I have to stay in his room until he falls asleep every night. If he has a bad night, I try putting him down a bit earlier the next night and he seems to do better.
I have no suggestions, only commiseration. 18 months was BY FAR the worst sleep regression for us. I still have nightmares about it. Sorry. It was actually when we started pushing back his bedtime, since it was taking him forever to fall asleep anyway, which helped, but I feel like developmentally they have SO much going on at that age. Do you think he has separation anxiety? Z did have a terrible sleep regression at 18m like I said, but it was more just being UP a lot and getting pissed before bedtime, but not necessarily crying when we left the room and things like t hat.
Liam isn't crying when we leave the room or anything, either, and he couldn't care less when we leave him with Grandmom and Pop Pop. Like Z, he just wants to be awake more, and gets mad when it's bedtime.
