"According to the National Institutes of Health, those with histrionic personality disorder "act in a very emotional and dramatic way that draws attention to themselves."
Sounds like most of GBCN.
Anyway, this doesn't strike me as a big deal. The way the article is written and the syndrome is described, it sounds as though it would speak only to the language of the letters or anything Sandusky himself might have said. It wouldn't mitigate the victims' testimony about actual acts of abuse, which is the heart of the prosecution's case and far more significant than the letters.

Of course the defense would say he has some sort of mental illness, so it's not surprising that they found one. What else could they do? I do think his lawyers are relying to much on the HPD, and I really hope Sandusky's perverted world comes crashing down on him. If he doesn't commit suicide before going to jail, I hope an inmate gives him an extra warm, histrionic welcome.

I don't really see how a personality disorder would help him. A psychotic disorder maybe... a personality disorder is just going to explain why he is such a fucking asshole.

Not to diminish anyone that has the disorder, but this man fucked little boys. I'm going to say that goes beyond acting in a "dramatic" way.
