Now that we have suggestions I guess we should make things official this way. I'm thinking we should have a discussion date about a month out. We can do weekly check-ins, too, if that would be fun.
ETA: I will close the poll Monday night in case some posters aren't here on the weekend to vote.
I don't know which one to vote for either! I read Wuthering Heights but it was years ago. I really liked it and wouldn't mind reading it again. Les Mis isn't interesing me right now for some reason.

My vote is for Wuthering Heights. I was supposed to read both choices in high school, but really only went through the motions (surely I'm not the only one who did this . I'd like to give Wuthering Heights another chance.
Could we discuss it as we go along -- like posts on Chapters 1 - 4 one week -- rather than waiting until the end of the month, or until we finish the book to discuss the whole book?

This sounds like a good way to break things up. When we get our final book choice I'll draw out a schedule of what days we will have posts and anyone who is up to that point can participate.
I'm going to be a loser and say that both are pretty long, and as I'm a slow reader, I might not get it finished. I did vote for Wuthering Heights. I'd love to read both, though.

Oooh, I like that idea.
I think that might improve the discussions. On NBC, they have next to no participation when the monthly book is a classis. I think we can make this work.

I'm glad other people like the idea to break up the discussions.
That is one of my complaints with once a month discussions. If I read the book at the beginning of the month, I would forget what I thought by the time the discussion came along. But if I waited to try and time it so the book was fresh in my mind, things would come up and I could not finish, so the book would be spoiled for me in the discussions.
I'd rather take longer to finish a book and discuss it a bit at a time than either forget the points I had to make or stay away from the discussions for fear of spoilers.
