We live in a more rural neighborhood where there aren't streetlights in our neighborhood. I enjoy running in the morning but occasionally run at night if I can't get out of bed early enough before work.
The other night, I left around 9pm and it was getting dimmer but still light outside. However, it got dark pretty quickly and by the last leg of the run, it was getting pretty dark. I don't think my street is used to having night runners b/c I had to dodge a car
What can I wear so cars can see me (both early mornings and later in the evening)?
Reflective vests are pretty light weight and make you really visible. I also recommend a head lamp, I've come up on my husband wearing his running at night and it makes him really noticeable on the dark streets.

There are two issues: being able to see and being seen. You want lights (headlamp, blinking light, small flashlight, etc) and reflective gear (vest or strips or those Y-shaped adjustable strip-things) and light/bright colored clothing. Yes, all of it. It took me only one close call with a car (who clearly did not see me) to never run in the dark without a light again.
I only got that one b/c we were @ REI & I was thinking about it, otherwise I would have probably also ordered one off Amazon or something....I like it though, I don't have any complaints about it
I run at dusk and I wear a reflective vest (actually, I wear the vest all the time since I run on a country road and I find it keeps me noticeable at all times.)
This post has been really helpful though, I'll look into getting a light for when it gets darker earlier.

Ditto everyone else's suggestions on the vest and butt blinkie light.
I find running with a headlamp makes me dizzy. Knuckle lights work much better for me, and I don't find them to be cumbersome depite being on my hands. If you find youself having the same issue with the headlamp, you might want to check them out.
