I never posted or even really lurked on GP on TN so forgive me if this is crossing any lines. I know no one is psychic or a doctor, but I'm new to this and am just not sure about anything.
Background: I read TCOYF a few weeks ago and started temping this past cycle, but I've forgotten a few times. I've been doing a clearblue easy fertility monitor as well for two months. I've been tracking AF and CF for about a year with my FF app. This is our first cycle really TTC,
My cycles are LONG. Like 34-35 days. Per the fertility monitor, my high days are days 16-23. I thought I had O'd on Thursday (temp went up), but the monitor says I'm still fertile today! Isn't that way too long? Does anyone else have any experience with the monitor? I know I should rely more on temps and I wish I hadn't forgotten those days. Next cycle I'm going to be more diligent.
Now I'm freaking out that my LP is going to be way too short. What happens if it is too short? Is there a medicine used to correct that?
I know I'm probably freaking out unnecessarily and that people have been trying for months/years so I hope this isn't insensitive. Thanks for indulging me.
This sort of mix-and-match system can be confusing as hell.
Try to really dedicate yourself to temping and checking CF and CP. It only works if you're inputting data regularly. Look for trends rather than individual data points.
If you think your fertile window may still be open, just have sex.

I agree with babs. If you think you still might be in the fertile window, have sex. I know I get all anxious about knowing FOR SURE which day I O'd but really you don't have to know which day as long as you are having sex on a regular basis around it.
Also remember that you are looking for a pattern in your chart so if you are looking at individual data too closely it can be a "can't see the forest for all the trees" type of thing.
I don't have any personal experience with the fertility monitor but that seems like a really long time to have your peak fertile window. Is it possible you might be getting false readings?

Based on CF when do you think you normally ovulate in your cycle? I believe I was able to pinpoint ovulation pretty accurately within a day or two just by looking for EWCM. Also I wouldn't consider 35 day cycles to be REALLY long. They are just on the longer end of normal.

My cycles are regularly 30 - 35 days long and I've been temping for 10 cycles now. When you're temp went up last Thursday, did it stay up? Unfortunately, you can't rely on just one temperature to confirm whether or not you O'd; you have to see a *sustained* temperature increased. Missing a day or two of temps isn't really a big deal (though I understand it can be frustrating) because you are looking at trends, not at a single temperature.
Also, even if you haven't O'd yet, that doesn't mean that your LP is too short. It may mean that, but it could also meant that you O'd later than normal this *particular* cycle. When I have a 35 day cycle, that usually means I O'd on CD22 or 23, which means I have a 12-13 day LP. An LP is considered short if it is 10 days or less.

Your first point is a good one. Thanks for the reality check. I guess it doesn't really matter exactly when.
I've been googling and the monitor is supposed to be super accurate. So IDK. Maybe I'll give it up next month and just temp.

This all makes me feel so.much.better. Some of my friends who are TTC were talking about charting last month and I shared that my cycles are longer and I think I O'd on day 21 to 23 and they were all concerned. It made me worry (and I'm already a worrier by nature). Thanks again for sharing and making me feel like it's not super abnormal.
I hate not knowing what I'm talking about. I'm trying to educate myself, but there's so much info out there and it's overwhelming. I'll try to take a step back and just make sure I temp consistently next month and not overanalyze so much.
Did your temp stay high? If so you probably ovulated and just still having what the machine think's is fertile fluid and maybe you still are. Sometime's I had egghwhite after O but my temp and opk all showed I ovulated, so this could have happened also.
I also don't think your lp will be to short. If you have a 34 dy cycle and ovulated on cycle day 20 your lp would be 14dys. I would think you O a little later than what the expected is(cycle day 14) so I would say your fine. Good luck!

it's also possible you o'd on CD 23 and will end up with a 37 day cycle this time. just because others were 34 or 35 days, doesn't necessarily mean this one will be that same exact length. good luck!
