Aww, thanks for thinking of me/us. No new updates for now.
I believe Ex filed a police report on Friday, but I don't know if he got the guy's license plate number. I know he DID see the guy again Friday morning; but not over the weekend.
ETA: he shows up between 5:30 and 6:30am to tear the signs down. Sometimes twice. Clearly he's doing it before work.
Shit, I hadn't seen that you saw the person taking the signs. I hope something comes of it, as much as it sickens me to think that he took your dog and removes signs to recover him.

Is this just some flier vigilante (because those exist) or is he only taking yor posters, sorry, I haven't been following but do you suspect he has your dog?
I don't know. I suspect he does have my dog. But either way, I want to get his ass arrested for impersonating a city employee.
Ugh. I found your update about the guy who is taking down the signs, and I have to agree that it sounds like he has your dog. A sign nazi wouldn't be as likely to pretend to be a city official, since signs up on right-of-ways etc are usually considered trash and anyone can remove them if they wanted.
Can you make a google voice number and put out other signs for something else and see if he takes those down too? Something innocuous like a garage sale, or if you're feeling feisty, a fake Found dog?
IDK if he'd be dumb enough to fall for that and actually make contact... but an unrelated sign in font/handwriting that is different from the dog sign and put up at the same time might at least give a clue as to whether it was indiscriminate sign removal or dog-stealing douchery.

He also ripped a sign off Ex's mailbox. This is not a sign-nazi.

Any chance you could just follow him? Wait til he leaves and then call for your dog to see of she barks? Maybe that's silly.
This is how the people in my city who had their dog stolen found her. They had a suspicion of who took the dog, went to the guy's house and called their dog's name. She was in the backyard and ran to the fence barking.
I agree with making sure the guy was gone before doing this, just because I'd be freaked he would turn physical or something, but yeah I think this might be a last resort option. If you follow him, you do see your dog there, then I'd call the police and get them involved.
The reason my updates have been sparse is because I'm leaving a lot of the work to Ex. It's happening at his house and I want as little interaction with him right now as possible. I feel like he's handling the best he can right now.
I've been monitoring CL and all the shelters' found dog reports.
I will talk to Ex today or tomorrow about hiring someone.
