Kennedy was diagnosed with what they think is a form of hand foot and mouth disease. I started running a fever last night and woke up with a sore throat. Apparently if you catch this in the third trimester there can be pretty serious complications including stillbirth because it can be passed to the baby through the placenta. I'm praying I just so happened to catch some sort of flu or something at the same time. But freaking out is putting it mildly.
No no no no! That is soooo worst case scenario! You just have the flu! Just a teeny ring minor baby version of the flu and you will be perfectly fine and so will kennedy and so will that baby in your belly! Hang in there mama!!! You're so close!

I'm trying to remember that the risks are supposedly rare, if it is what I have. But honestly, we don't have a good track record when it comes to odds. And this is just making my anxiety over another NICU transfer even worse than it already was.

Hoping for you that it winds up being nothing to worry about. Wasn't there someone else from the Nest (Ragazza maybe) who was exposed to it late in her pregnancy and everything was just fine in the end?
Yes you're right, Ragazza was exposed to it, I think it was a kid in As class had it. She didnt end up catching it but she was naturally concerned. I'm just sure you will be too jennifer80808080:)

I had a low grade fever for less than 24 hours, but I still have a sore throat. Apparently adults don't get it as severely as kids do, so there's no telling if this is just a fluke or the extent of it. I talked to my midwife who put me a little more at ease. She's really not concerned, the chances of some of the more serious side effects are rare, even if that is what I have. She said she would be more concerned if I had it and was really close to delivering, like in the next week or two.
ETA- Kennedy is totally fine. For the most part she's been unphased by this whole ordeal which seems weird to me. She was really fussy and clingy, tired, no appetite the day she had the fever. But that's it. The rash hasn't bothered her at all, and is going away now. I keep hearing how horrible this is for kids and we really didn't have that experience. S maybe they're wrong and it's something else she had? Or she's just proving once again to be a tough kid.
