Let me preface this by saying that our 'traveling' usually consists of a long weekend out of town to go to greyhound reunions where I sell my ornaments. Since the weekends/vending days are long and boring for a small child, we leave her with Grandma & Grandpa.
We are planning to travel to visit friends, and they would like to meet our kiddo. We'll be staying overnight at their house, but since their kids are 6/7 years old, it's unlikely that they will still have a crib available. DD is 2.5 and still sleeps in a crib at home and a Grandmas. The last time we had to stay overnight somewhere that WASN'T Grandma's, she was still small enough to fit in the pack n play. Now, however, she is over 3' tall (she's tall for a 2.5 yr old).
Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or ideas for sleeping arrangements. Luckily it's only 1 night, so even if we all sleep horribly it won't be the end of the world (though, an overtired 2.5 yr old is no fun for anyone).
I would still try the pack n play. My 3.5 y.o. is 42" and 48lbs and he's climbed in his little brother's packnplay before - he fits. Not the most comfy thing in the world, though. You could try a camping mattress or making pallet on the floor with blankets, but she might be better off cramped in the pnp if she's used to a crib.
DSs mattress in his crib was so fricking hard - I actually have put him in a sleeping bag on the floor when traveling w/ him. I didn't feel there was really much of a difference between his mattress and the floor, and he always slept fine.
Now (he has a normal mattress that is softer) we try to get a bed for him, or we'll take a blow up mattress.

We recently bought a travel cot for about $20. She slept on it in a B&B for one night, no problem. We'll take it on a week long vacation in a few weeks.
