Shane seems to be back into a somewhat regular sleep pattern, for which I'm so grateful. His personality is coming out more and more each day and it's so fun to see. He's so ticklish and giggly and I love it!
Amelia has officially weened and I feel amazing about it. I swear I love her even more now. I'm so proud of her for becoming such a big girl. And it feels amazing to have my boobs back for a little while even if they are pregnant boobs again.

I'm 37w2d today and really can't believe it. These last few weeks are going by so quickly. I'm really starting to get emotional about Quinn losing his only child status. I know he will love his brother and vice versa, but I want to make sure he feels special and just as loved as he does now. I know things will be different, but I want to make it as easy on him as possible.
I'm actually happy to say I've been having contractions off and on. I had nothing with Quinn before my water broke, so hopefully contractions are a sign that I will be able to have the VBAC I want. I have a few things left to do, but I'm pretty much as ready as I'll ever be. Except I have to put the carseat base in the car. That's pretty important.
I've been taking Shane to baby sign language for a couple of months. Over the past few days he's been doing the sign for milk after he ate. Doesn't really help me know what he wants, but I was impressed he was connecting the action with the sign.
Fast forward to the wee hours of this morning. He woke up around 2:30 and was wide awake. Awesome. I get up and start reading while he babbles away for close to two hours. Around 4:30 he starts fussing and I look at him and say "please tell me you're getting tired" He looks right at me and does the milk sign! I was so proud of my little guy. I fed him and he fell asleep.
Now, if only he'd slept past 7 this morning ... hopefully we'll both get a nap at some point today
Aegis that's great! I wish I'd done more sign with Amelia. I'm going to try with new baby.
Amelia did give me one of those proud moments this week with a word though! I was washing dishes and she was playing in the kitchen and suddenly started shouting "bubble" clear as day. I thought maybe she was seeing a fly in the house or something but I walked over to her and sure enough there was a tiny bubble floating there from the dish soap. It was the first time she effectively used a word to tell me something and it was awesome.
aegis, that's great! We do lots of signing with Ellie (no classes, just on our own) and we LOVE it. It's so great for her to be able to communicate with us even before she can speak. She probably knows (and consistently/correctly uses) about 20 signs. I mean, a lot of them are for animals, so it's good for identifying but not really communicating needs, but whatever. It's still cool to see her brain working and how she makes associations.
sara, that's great both "bubble" and weaning related!
Kim, here's hoping for the best for the VBAC! Also, your maternity pics were stunning.
Related to all the signing/talking news, Ellie has learned four actual spoken words in about a week: up, out, down and puppy. Now that she knows some direction words she is constantly informing us as to where she wants to go. It's pretty much "Up! UP! UP! Out!" on repeat. She has also started saying "mama" more, which is so nice. She's been able to say it for a while but has opted not to. Heck, she would say "SpongeBob" more than "mama" (no joke) so I'm happy with this turn of events.
I think she's finally settling back in to her normal self after a few days of pure hell with bad sleep and refusing to eat. It was rough on everybody. Not sure what happened - no new teeth as far as I can tell, not sick, etc. The dog has been misbehaving too so I'm really hoping they're both just thrown off because my H has been gone for 6 weeks and we're packing up to move to Jax on Wednesday, so things are kind of out of sorts generally. Hopefully when we're all back together again and settled into our new place everybody will chill out.
The girls are speaking in sentences a lot. Syntax needs some work, we will figure that out as we go. They are doing well in the YMCA and now seem to look forward to it each day.
I am looking for a part time job because things are a little too tight for my liking. my mother has been making mine feel insanely guilty about this because "you have them Iin the Y for 2 hours and then you want to work, too? You will never see them...and they dont need things they need you!"
Pretty sure she worked while I was growing up. Grrrr.
I am doing good, getting larger by the day though.
I have started to accept that I might finally be having a second baby come November. I even started buying the baby stuff here and there, mostly on gender neutral clothing I find on super duper sale. BUUUTTT, I have been eyeing the Baby Jogger City Select stroller for some time now but I couldn't justify the $500 price tag (not to mention the $169 for a second seat to make it into a double and the $89 for a bassinet). However, my mom and I popped into Macro Baby here in Orlando (which sells higher end baby items) and the floor model was being sold for $150 off! There was absolutely nothing wrong with it! Apparently a sales associate had mistakenly unpacked a second City Select so they had two floor models. Rather than packing the second floor model back into the box they discounted it heavily. I was nervous to make such a big purchase for fear I would jinx this pregnancy but I bit the bullet and bought the stroller. I couldn't pass up the deal! Ha, not many people understand my level of excitement for finding such a good deal on the stroller but I am happy with my purchase
Macy is doing good. She is getting ready to start private school in mid August for Pre-K3. I am not really sure how we are going to afford her tuition but some how we'll manage. I am so happy for this milestone coming up in her life, but I know I will be a complete mess when I drop her off for the first day. She could not be any happier either. She is really looking forward to it! We are all set to go with her uniforms, new hair bows, supplies, back pack, lunch box, new shoes and her first haircut. She is going to look so cute in her little uniform!
I get your stroller love! We just bought the Baby Jogger City Elite double stroller used from Craigs List for.... wait for it... $150. Plus the woman owns a toy store and threw in a sweet shopping cart for Amelia and block set for free. The stroller is $650 brand new. This one had broken brakes but H got the part needed for free from Baby Jogger and they are fixed now and work like brand new. The stroller is hella heavy but it will be awesome for long walks in my neighborhood because we have very choppy sidewalks bc of all the old oak trees. We are going to keep our City Elite single also and add the glider board for Amelia to stand on, like for ball games and places where she can walk for the most part. The City Select is an awesome stroller, congrats! I'm a huge Baby Jogger fan

Kathy, congrats on such a big purchase! You're gonna love that stroller; I have a 2010 and I still use it a lot. It's awesome that you got a great deal on it, too! When i bought mine, they were coming out with the 2011 models, so they had the price marked down. I think I paid a little over $400 for the stroller, 2nd seat and the adapter. And it's definitely worth the $$! I'm definitely sporting a bump now. As I'm looking at my pics from my previous 2 pregnancies, I look like I'm 20 weeks pregnant! Although I'm bigger this time around, I still fit into my regular pants; I just use the rubber band method. I'm not ready to bust out my maternity clothes yet (I don't have that many to begin with). Also last weekend, H and I bought a minivan! I am definitely in love with my new car! It is so roomy and drives likes a dream. In 4 weeks, my DDs start preschool. DD1 will be going 3 days/week and DD2 is going for 2 days. Somehow this makes me sad. But I know they're gonna have fun.
