My mom has endometriosis and struggled with secondary infertility, and also has GI issues. That's an interesting possibly connection I hadn't thought about before. My GI issues are also exponentially worse during and following pregnancy or during my period. I have to think there's something relating the two.
I'm sorry your sister is having a rough time. That's a crappy combination of issues to have.
Long answer: I have always believed that my GYN issues and my GI issues are related for many reasons. I started my period at 12 and got sick at 14, for years I have always had a flair up exactly one week before I start my period, none of my GI tests have shown any reason for my symptoms, and the list goes on. Every GYN I've seen thinks I have Endo, but no one has been willing to do the laproscopy to confirm so I'm stuck with (yet again) no answer for either side of my pain. I met with a new doctor last week who said that since I'm already on BCP and they've stopped my periods I have to wait until we TTC, and then if we have trouble they'll order further testing. She said that based on my history there's a very good chance that I don't ovulate, which really puts a damper on looking forward to TTC.

Yes! I had similar issues that Lorelei's mom had, when they did the endo removal surgery, the found that my intestines had been scar tissue fused to my abdominal wall! I was able to get pg after the surgery (see siggy pic). I have crohns and it is way worse during my periods!
I have had ovarian cysts. No idea if it's all connected, but am willing to consider any possibilities. mandapanda18, thanks for sharing your story. I have been having TTTC # 2 and will bring this up with my OB/Gyn.
Yes. I had surgery 6.5 years ago to remove cysts from both ovaries. After the procedure, my Dr. commented to my family that she could tell I had been in pain a long time because my intestines were inflamed and hardened. So, to put it mildly, I had associated GI issues.
