We are taking our garage fridge/freezer with us when we move. I have never moved a fridge before. Do we need to unplug and defrost it days in advance? Wrap it?

How far are you moving it? If it'll be just a couple of hours or less you can unplug right when you're moving it and plug it back in as soon as you get to the new house. But that's ONLY if you're able to keep it upright constantly. If you have to lay it on it's side for pretty much any time you need to let it sit upright for... I think 6 or 12 hours?... to let the freon settle or you run the risk of damaging the fridge's cooling system.
We're only moving about 40 minutes away... but it's going to be sitting in a moving van for 3 days. We could not get our closings to line up so we'll be staying in a hotel for a few days and all of our belongings will be on a truck.
When we moved our beer/garage fridge (it's a humongous side-by-side), it was in the moving truck for 3 days and it was fine. I was worried about it leaking water too but it was fine. It is a frost-free one and didn't have a working ice maker so no running water was really in it.
