Long separations

Have you ever been away from your dog for a long period of time? Did they remember you when you came back? 

I'm currently living overseas and I'm afraid my dog won't remember me when I come home.

How long? I'm sure your dog will remember you as long as it wasn't a brand new puppy you only had for a week before leaving...

There are so many heartwarming videos of dogs welcoming home their soldier owners after a long deployment, and stories about long-lost pets remembering their owners when they reunite, that I think pets have long memories for people that they love

That makes me feel so much better. It's only four months or so and he's four years old, I've had him since he was a puppy.

I ended up away from my pup for 6 weeks when she was 4 months old. She knew who I was when I got back. Rinse and repeat varying 1 week to 2+ months over the next 18 months. Only time she was weird was the 5 week trip. DH wanted to she how she would react if she didn't know I was home yet. He dropped me off and then picked her up. She didn't recognize me until I spoke to her. Then it was over I got attacked by one happy puppy and her slobbery tongue. DH got a very silly video. She was fine after that. She is happy with the people she stays with, I don't feel to bad leaving her.

After my parents divorced, I hadn't seen our family dog in years. But he remembered me and my siblings. I'm sure your doggy won't forget you. <3
