J's son needs new bedroom furniture- he's outgrown his race car bed. J wants to get bunk beds, twin over full, and we haven't been able to find anything on craigslist. We were looking last night and found a bed at Walmart that looks nice and has really good reviews.
I don't know why I'm feeling snobby about this. If it were my kid, I'd probably want something nicer. Although, it kind of doesn't make sense to spend a lot of money for furniture that's only used one night a week, right?

I wouldn't buy bunk beds from WM because all of the furniture I've purchased from that type of store (Target, WM) hasn't been very sturdy and I would be concerned about safety. I have only had coffee tables and a bookshelf, though. If you have seen it in person and it looks sturdy, and gets good reviews, then I wouldn't worry about where it comes from.
no bc that company fucking sucks. but I would keep looking on CL. you will find something for pennies on the dollar and maybe get it delivered for free!
We actually bought our crib from Wal-Mart after we found it a Babies R Us but they didn't carry it in the color we wanted. It's Babi Italia, really solid wood and we got it at half the price. People loved it. It is one of the only things I've ever bought there but if you can find something of that quality, I would.
For a kid? I wouldn't think twice. I probably wouldn't for my bedroom furniture because I feel like it might fall apart after a couple of sex sessions lol
I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with it, but bunk beds can be unsafe. I wouldn't want to risk Walmart for that, but if they have good reviews then MAYBE. I live and die by the reviews. What about Ikea? I am not sure I consider that much safer but I know tons of people with bunk beds from there.
Also, my parents purchased a very expensive bedroom set for me when I was a kid and I managed to ruin it anyways. Kids are rough with their shit, better to go cheaper so it's not such a blow if something does happen lol

If the reviews were good, I would. Especially for how little it will be used. Seems silly to spend a lot of money on something that will be outgrown in a few years and only gets used minimally.

We bought great solid wood chairs at Target, which I consider on a similar plane. I'd have to check it out in person, first, and make the determination on how durable it is and how it looks.

Our nursery furniture is Walmart. Same as pp, the dresser has pretty much fallen apart, but the crib was sturdy and great. We've since bought a toddler bed from Walmart and are very happy with it.
