So about 5 kids out of 20 in Joshua's "infant" room at DC have come down with it. One of the kids that had it is an 8 month old that J spends about 45 minutes playing with in the morning (they are the only 2 kids who get there that early). This weekend, J had a fever and was really tired, but was fine yesterday and today. I know the symptoms say blisters occur IN the mouth (which he doesn't have) but has some kind of pimply/blistery areas around his mouth. Any thoughts if this might be it?
Actually I think it does. Here's a picture last 4th of July when Kalvin had it.
Well that's pretty darn close, huh? So if it is, what the heck do I do? He's been in DC for 2 days, and no one has said anything, and I even pointed it out to them to see if that's what it was.
He isn't contagious now that the blisters are out. He's only contagious before that. Kalvin was allowed back once he went into blisters and he had a ton of blisters on his feet, hands and face.

Good to know! J seems to get anything that is going around DC. This is the 2nd time in 4 months they have had HFM but the 1st time only 1 kid got it. DH and I don't have jobs that we could easily stay home from, so thank you!
It is odd what they pick up. Sometimes one can be sick without the other getting it. Katelyn didn't get it last year but I figured that was because she was breastfed.

We didn't go in for it, but I am pretty sure both mine had it back in May. DS had blisters/pimples around his mouth like Yours. He also had them on his hands and bottom of his feet. DD had them in odd places on her arms and legs. Both had a sudden fever and it wet away with medicine. The nurse told me if they were fever free for 24 hours they weren't contagious anymore.

Fuck, A has a rash like this, but we thought it was from teething/excessive drool?! She's been cutting 6 teeth, but she hasn't really had a fever at all, but the rash hasn't gone away with Vaseline around her mouth to seal out moisture. She's had it two weeks now, but not on hands or feet. Should I call the pedi too?!
Poor kids!! I have seen a lot of HFM but it usually looks more blistery? than those pics of J. And usually there is at least 1 blister on hands or feet. I think it's rarer to just have them around the mouth.
DS1 had it 2 years ago and he only had one blister on his hand, but still, it was there. Same with other kids I've seen.

Preston had it last week and he had a full body rash and only a few blisters. He did have a few around his mouth that looked like that. The ones around his mouth never blistered though. I think it looks like HFM. I was told he was contagious until at least 6 days after the rash started? I don't know, we basically stayed home for the week.

Henry has it right now and it started looking just like that but within a few days he has red dots all over. Well not all over but almost. They don't seem to bug him and he is back at daycare. Cream I don't think she has it, based on what you said. The doc said it starts with a fever then the rash.!
