I'm leading an "All Girls' Empowerment Retreat" this summer for 6-8 high school girls. We want to teach them some cooking basics, and have them help with dinner prep for the 2 nights we're there. I'm also going to include the recipes for the meals we make in the gift bag we give them.
Are there any recipe suggestions for dinners that are relatively inexpensive, will feed around 12 of us, and will be simple enough to explain to a kitchen full of teens? I don't think we have any special diet needs. Any and all suggestions are welcome! TIA!
My first thought was something they could build themselves and then bake individually in a foil packet- chunk some red potatoes and different veggies, add a chicken breast, top with italian dressing and some parm cheese?
Or spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, pizza? taco bar- ground beef or shredded chicken, toppings, soft and hard shells?

If you have an oven I think baked dishes are the easiest for feeding a crowd. With teenage girls, baked potato bars and/or baked chicken dishes should be great. You could also do something like a panzanella salad.
