A group of friends is going to the Braves game tomorrow night, in honor of a friend's birthday. DH is out of town, so it's just me. I finally managed to find a babysitter so I could go too. A bunch of the group live in my neighborhood, so they're all driving together and offered me a spot in the car.
Pros- -My inner hippie always prefers to carpool when possible. -Splitting the parking cost. $4 instead of $20. -I don't have to worry about drinking and driving. (I wouldn't drink much, since I still have to come home and be responsible for Andrew, but I don't like driving if I've had anything to drink)
Cons- -At the mercy of the rest of the group. I have to leave for the game when they do and come home when they do. -I'm stuck at the game without a car, in case of an emergency with Andrew. -Public transportation is useless, so if I did have to come home, I'd have to use a taxi. -$20 parking is stupid.
Andrew is feeling 100% better, so there's no reason to think that I'd need to come home early. This sitter has watched him 6-7 times, so they're familiar with each other and have never had a problem. Turner Field is less than ten miles from my house. Getting there will take probably 20-30 minutes with traffic, but closer to 15 for the way home.
So what would proboards do? Carpool or drive yourself?
I'm a paranoid freak, so I would not want to be left without transportation. I would want to be able to leave when I wanted or needed too in case of an emergency.

I was all "drive yourself" until I read that you're only about 10 miles from home. I also wouldn't be able to drink anything if I was responsible for driving, especially if the reason I drove myself was so that I could jump in the car at any given moment and drive back. I say ride with friends and enjoy yourself (with a beer or 2), and if God forbid something came up and you needed to get back, take the $16 you saved in parking and put it towards the taxi fare.

Carpool, then if you happen to need to leave early, cab it...it is probably still cheaper than the $20 for parking if you drove yourself! Oh and Have Fun!

I hate driving anywhere, though. My answer is always to hitch a ride.
All of this. I don't like driving. I also hate showing up by myself and having to find a group. That would annoy me more than having to deal with their time schedule.
