My h surprisingly likes it and suggested sandblasting. I like the legs, so would be okay with chopping the feet off. He wants to at least try to work on the feet. This was a freebie found on the curb.
wow, that's really interesting. H says he would sandblast with a fine grit, low pressure. Just use a couple layers of masking tape on the glass balls.
Thanks, pitter!! I have lots of research to do.
I'm thinking sandblasting will end up being pretty expensive, but I'm curious to hear what you come up with if you get quotes. It certainly would make refinishing easy.
A potential alternative would be to use a brass wire brush drill attachment for the metal feet.
Too bad you aren't on the other side of the state, I think my H would enjoy this project.

Thanks, ladies!! You guys have been so helpful!
Can you take the feet off? I'd have them professionally stripped and either polished or plated.
Thanks so much everyone! I have been doing a little research and gotten some names of people that may help. It's noreally my style (a little fancy), but I recognize its character and didn't want it in the trash.
My neighbor recently passed at 100. His house was built in 1910 and has been in their family the whole time. Just think of all of the goodies in there. The family, who are awesome, set a lot of stuff out for people to take and people have taken a lot! Anyway, I found this table out there yesterday and just had to drag it home.
